When you breathe, focus on your belly.
You should feel your tummy rising and falling as you inhale and exhale.
Your shoulders, chest and neck shouldn’t move. Just your tummy.
This is the easiest and quickest way to calm yourself down and relax.
It doesn’t even take much time. Just a few minutes to stop whatever you’re doing and focus on your breath.
It’s convenient, effective and has no side effects.
Do this whenever you feel stressed out or overwhelmed.
You could be feeling stressed out by an upcoming presentation.
You could be feeling worried about unfinished work.
You could be feeling anxious about your future and life in general.
Just stop and take a few breaths.
Detach yourself from the negative thoughts replaying in your mind and be present.
Let it all go.
You are not your thoughts.
You are not your worries.
You are not your fears.
You only become what you allow to affect you.
It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing. You can do abdominal breathing anytime and anywhere and reap all of its benefits.
Do yourself this much-needed favour and your body will thank you for it in the long run.
