It’s Time to Stop Listening to Them.

Some of us are living in someone else’s dictations. We don’t listen to what our hearts are telling us but we’re listening to what others are saying.

They say things like:

“You won’t make it anywhere as a ____”.
“Doing ___ is useless”.
“You won’t make as much money being a ___”.

Some of us are allowing others to tell us what we can or can’t do. What we should and shouldn’t do. What jobs we should have. What we can or can’t be.

And it’s toxic.

We’re supposed to be in charge of our own lives but someone else is controlling our steering wheels.

Forget what your parents, relatives and others tell you about what you should work as or become. Forget about the “usual path” of living life. Forget about the people who tell you ‘no’.

Work on things you love.

The only way you’ll find true happiness and live a meaningful life is to pursue your passion. Pursue it and don’t look back. It could be music, writing, advertising, programming or whatever it is. If you really love it then pursue it. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle for something that you’re not willing to put your heart in.

Your career is your life’s work.

If it’s something that you don’t love, you are honestly wasting the limited time you have here on this earth. Fill your life and your work with meaning and that means doing something that you love for the rest of your life. Do what you want to do and be what you want to be because it’s your life.

It’s tough having to wake up every morning and dread having to go to work or do something that you really don’t like. If you’re always looking forward to the weekends and vacations, you’re not living the life you were intended to live.

Live by your passions, not by their dictations.

  1. Thanks for your ideas to this topic. For most of us there is a life long struggle to balance between our materialistic wants and our spiritual needs. Most of the time the first one wins the upper hand on us and we exchange depression for materialistic advantages.

    1. Wow I really like this – “when you love your work, it is not work, it is life.”

It reminds me of a quote by Marc Anthony which goes, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Thank you and you be happy too!

    1. Wow, nice folk piece you got there I love it!

“Things could be better now than they’ve ever been, But we all settle for someone else’s dream. ”

So true for a lot of us. Thanks for sharing it with us here. Wish you all the success for you and The Fed Peasants!
